(Läsnäolevan vuorovaikutuksen johdantokurssi englanniksi)
The practice of mindful interaction combines meditation and interaction.
The practice guides us, much like meditation, to connect with the experience of the present moment. Shared presence provides additional support for pausing in the moment and exploring one’s own experience. The practice also offers the opportunity to observe more closely what happens in our experience specifically during interaction.
Sometimes, it might feel as though meditation practice remains somewhat detached from the rest of life. The practice of mindful interaction can help bring meditation into the heart of everyday life, especially into encounters with other people.
In the course, we partially apply the principles of the Insight Dialogue method, developed by the world-renowned Insight meditation teacher Gregory Kramer.
This introductory course is an opportunity to get acquainted with the practice of mindful interaction. If you’re interested in continuing with mindful interaction after the course, you’re welcome to join a practice group that meets every other Friday in Hakaniemi, Helsinki. (So far, the group has been in Finnish, but we can explore the possibility of including English speakers at least occasionally.)
The course is suitable for people who have some prior experience with meditation. Those already familiar with mindful interaction are also welcome to join if they wish.
This course is held in English. If many Finnish speakers also join, you can choose the language for each pair practice based on what works best for both participants.
Course time: Sunday 2.3.2025 from 10:00 to 13:30
Place: The Buddhist center Sampo, Vetehisenkuja 3
The course is taught by Anna Backholm, one of Nirodha’s facilitators. Anna has practiced meditation since 2011 and has been acquainted with the practice of mindful interaction since 2014. Anna is also a Focusing trainer and a mindfulness-based Core Process therapist.
