Vipassana Meditation and Insight Dialogue Retreat 17.-22.4.2014 in Kruusila, Finland

This retreat is held 17.-22.4.2013 in Kruusila and consists of two phases that support each other. Everyone is expected to attend the ENTIRE retreat from April 17 to April 22nd.

17.-19.4. Regular Vipassana practice

During the retreat we will deepen our understanding of insight practice, developing mindfulness of the mind and the body, contemplating their aspects and exploring their qualities in each moment. As wisdom unfolds, the nature of experience will reveal itself enabling a powerful inner transformation.
Every day, there will also be a session of loving-kindness or compassion meditation.

20.–22.4. Insight Dialogue

”Insight Dialogue is an interpersonal meditation practice. It brings the mindfulness and tranquility of silent meditation directly into our experience with other people. As humans, we are relational beings; as we begin to wake up, clarity and freedom can illuminate our relationships with others.”
With this practice we extend our personal silent mode of meditation to the sphere of relationship through speaking and listening, when invited by the teacher. Specific instructions and dharma contemplations will support the Insight Dialogue practice which will be combined each day with Vipassana practice. These meditation techniques are over 2500 years old and draw from the Theravada Buddhist tradition. However, taking part in the retreat does not require an adherence to Buddhism or any adaptation of personal faith.

Why attend a retreat? What happens on a retreat?

This retreat is suitable for both beginners and advanced meditators. For beginners, the retreat is a great way to learn the basics of vipassana meditation and insight dialogue as well as see their effects clearly. For advanced meditators, the retreat offers an excellent opportunity to deepen and clarify one’s practice in the guidance of an experienced teacher.
The retreat is held in English. The days consist mainly of sitting and walking meditation and a work period. Time is spent silence apart from the moments of dialogue and group interviews with the teacher. Guided instructions and a dharma talk will be given daily. Vegetarian breakfast, lunch, and a light dinner are served during the retreat. The venue of the retreat is The Friendship Inn in Kruusila near Salo, about 100 km west of Helsinki, Finland.

Who is the teacher?

The retreat will be taught by Patricia Genoud-Feldman. She has been practicing Vipassana and Dzogchen meditation since 1984 in Asia under the guidance of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and Sayadaw U Pandita and later in the West. She completed her teacher training at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. USA under the guidance of Joseph Goldstein and others and has been teaching Vipassana meditation since 1997 in Europe, Israel and the US.
